Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode Fanmade Preview

Tokyo Mew Mew a la Mode OVA

Original Fan-OVA lineart.

Following up an April Fool's Day joke of questionable effectiveness, I decided to attempt creating a 1-2 minute preview of what a Tokyo Mew Mew OVA featuring Mew Berry and the others would look like. The original prank was a video I asked people to spread across youtube. Due to lack of time and planning, the video featured several anime screenshot stills, and a very short shot of Berry Shirayuki speaking. Some clips of Japanese text was taken from the Tales of Symphonia OVA previews to make it look slightly more official, and part of the instrumental of "Oh Nick, Please Not So Quick" from Dance Dance Revolution played in the background. The videos were posted with a statement that there was a 6-episode OVA (Original Video Animation) to be released in Spring 2007. A week or so later, I requested that the videos be removed so that the rumor wouldn't be able to spread and get terribly out of hand.

Since I was to be taking Animation class in the fall, I decided that making a short fandubbed series of clips and the opening from said OVA could be a lot of fun, and something slightly different from what anything the fan community has already created for the show. For the voices of Berry and Tasuku I had previously asked Amree Takahara and Haushinka from the Voice Acting Alliance if they'd be interested in taking up the roles. No script has yet been planned, although various scenes are being considered.

The Opening Theme is a track that was included in the "My Sweet Heart" CD single, called "Hello Brand New Love". The song is sung by Rika Komatsu and is very cute and catchy, and it seemed like it would go especially well with a chibi-styled opening sequence (think Lovedol or the style of Lucky Star). The sung was never used in the real anime.
