.:MEW AQUA:.

Mew Aqua The Mew Aqua (or "Blue Aqua" in the English dub) is a very important item in the series, and thus deserving of its own page, since you won't find much information on it, and even what is revealed in the series is scattered and difficult to put together. The Mew Aqua is first discovered in episode 19 when Mew Lettuce reacts with something glowing in the ocean and is able to tap into her animal powers and become a mermaid. In the following episodes, Ryou and Keiichiro (as well as the aliens, since they also witnessed the transformation) begin researching the Mew Aqua. The results of their findings begin to make themselves known beginning in episode 21, when a drop of the Mew Aqua is able to heal a duck that has been injured (in the anime it had a broken wing, in the manga it had been harmed in an oil spill).

Mew Aqua is "crystalline water with a high level of purity". It is said to have the ability to revitalize the body, so if someone were to get hurt, applying Mew Aqua to their wounds would allow them to recover. It's nickname is the "Water of Miracles". Mew Aqua is very strong and is pretty much impossible to physically damage - although it can be seperated into pieces. Ryou suggests that all of the Mew Aqua are actually pieces of a much larger Mew Aqua that exists somewhere.

The problem with using Mew Aqua is that it can literally hide itself almost anywhere - from a crystal ball to the human heart. Ryou and Keiichiro choose to store the Mew Aqua fragments they find in small bottles.

Mew Aqua Kish apparently uses another piece of the Mew Aqua with a current running through it to detect if another fragment is close by, though Pie is able to first narrow down the search area using his computers. The method the Mew Mews use is similar - Ryou and Keiichiro first detect a Mew Aqua reading on their computer systems and then the girls go to search for it, however, they never use other Mew Aqua fragments (even though they are available), but rather rely on their own feelings. When one of them has a strong emotional reaction to something (anger, sorrow, a strong desire to protect, etc) and the Mew Aqua is near, their bodies start to glow a faint blue and the Mew Aqua becomes easier to locate. Mew Aqua only leaves a faint trace unless it is activated this way.

The Mew Aqua allowed an artifact that Ryou and Keiichiro found to transform into the Mew Aqua Rod. The rod acts as a container for the Mew Aqua's power and was described as being "very dangerous in its transformed state". In the manga it is actually Masha that transforms into this weapon. After all of the Mew Aqua is used up, the rod itself becomes dormant (think of a toy with dead batteries). In Masha's case, once the Mew Aqua had been depleted, Masha would return to normal. The attack summons large amounts of purifying bubbles to float around an area and heal everything it touches. In the anime only Ichigo could use it. In the manga, Mint, Pudding, Lettuce, and Zakuro use it in that order, and Ichigo never does.

In the anime, Mew Aqua is able to restore lost lives, but not the buildings that were destroyed.
