Koi Cupid is a blend of both Mia Ikumi's strengths and weaknesses. Cute designs for the main cast balance out sometimes sloppy backgrounds and toning. The cupids are sure to win over readers, but the human characters suffer a bit from trite plotlines and generic designs. In the end, it's the main trio that takes center stage. [ READ MORE ]

September 06, 2008Finally got up that review of Koi Cupid volume 01. Please check out the link above. =)
September 05, 2008According to Anime News Network, the bi-monthly manga magazine Comi Di Gi+ announced in its latest issue that its August 21st issue would be its last. Comi Di Gi+ currently serializes a number of Koge Donbo's works and works by other artists including Mia Ikumi's Koi Cupid. The article did not expand on the future of the series. [ You can read the article here. ] On to slightly less depressing news, in the upcoming weeks I'll be getting my hands on a number of Mew Mew furoku items. I haven't decided if I will put them up for auction on eBAY, start a contest with them as prizes, or hold a "silent auction" where the items will go to the person with the best offer. I'm selling these items because... I already have some of the items that came in the lot I won. ^^; Items include a cute mechanical pencil with Ichigo on the top, the mini poker deck, color pages from the manga (chapters 1-24; through about mid-way through volume six - any that are scanned and posted on this site already), an Ichigo postcard, the mini addressbook, a plastic pencil case and some box items. You can view the auction picture [ here ], just keep in mind some of the items aren't for sale, and some I'm gifting to friends. But I will scan and photograph all of it, as per usual. Reviews should be coming soon. I was held up by writing a one-shot for a fanfiction contest, so I didn't feel up to writing the reviews too.
August 30, 2008According to the [ Broccoli USA blog ], volume 2 of Koi Cupid has been sent to Broccoli Japan for approval as of August 25th, so we may be hearing more news on the next volume soon. I am also linking a fan manga by [ irrationalprince ], called [ TokiDokiMyuMyu ]. The story follows Kotte, a Swedish exchange student who comes to Japan. I'm sure you can gather what happens next - she is accidentally turned into a Mew Mew. While the storyline may be familiar, the thing that's going to get you is the art. Her art style's very different from the Tokyo Mew Mew we know, and that's what makes it refreshing - seeing that the Mew Mew world CAN be pulled off using a completely different look. And it's cool to see how the old characters translate over, so check it out.

So it's back to school for most everyone, huh? It's so weird not going back to school. I had two people today ask me about it. One is a friend of mine from college and she asked me "Are you here yet?". I had to remind both of them that I graduated back in May. She couldn't believe it. Haha. Alas. Also, if anyone has been following the youtube account, you may have heard that I'm planning a large Mew Mew project involving the second half of the anime that was never released in English. I hope to get more details up this weekend.

August 23, 2008Wow, it's been a while, hasn't it? I apologize. My job's been taking up a lot of my time and sucking out my creative energy (haha, it's true... I can't be very creative at my job). Anyways, I come to you with an update that I think you'll be pleased with. Lots of new scans - I recently purchased a box of TCG decks, so I was able to update with scans of more of the cards. I added scans of a couple of other Nakayoshi items - a Christmas card and the address book. The scans have been divided a bit because the pages were getting long, so now there are roughly 50 images to a page for each of the merchandise scans pages. The last page has the newer images.
July 12, 2008New [ parody ] submitted by Persimmon. I also have a [ translation ] of "Cat Ichigo's Huge Panic!?" courtesy of Cafe-chan available. The original scan came from the Moe group. More to follow.

Edit: Oh, forgot to mention! I found an interesting Koi Cupid review over at [ Heart's Content ]. Cute makes right, right? Well, I've only heard positive things so far. Apparently three volumes are out in Japan and it's ongoing.

July 09, 2008Finally upped the beginnings of a page for the [ Gameboy Game ]. New Nakayoshi and furoku scans have also been added, this time with lots of cute stickers. I also found out from sukii and Mew Plum that there was a Repure scanlation started about a year ago, and they finished the first chapter of the book (there's only on volume). The link to the Starry Heaven scanlation forum can be found [ here ]. Please check it out. As for Koi Cupid, apparently my copy has only just been shipped, so it'll be a while before I can write a review. If you would like to write a review or if there is something Mew Mew you want reviewed, feel free to let us know. I'll save the rest of the updates for this weekend. I'm switching jobs on Friday (this is a good thing, not a bad thing - I'm going to work for the local newspaper), and have been running around a lot, so it's been kind of hectic lately.
June 28, 2008Koi Cupid is apparently out (finally). It's available at BarnesandNoble.Com and Amazon.Com, as well as two eBAY stores. Thanks to miss ichigo for pointing out the Amazon listing.
June 23, 2008By suggestion, brought back a bunch of pages that have been MIA so the site doesn't feel so incomplete including the page on the site's history, past updates, and Oops! Mistakes, all with revisions. The merchandise pages also have revisions, and images have been added to the page on the aliens. New pages include [ Promotion ] which talks a bit about Mew Mew events and shows in Japan, including information on "Mew5". New scans have also been added. I'm working on getting the donated images section back up, too. Busy, busy! @_@ So much is going on this week and so much to do. Mostly, I'm excited that the sequel to my favorite video game (Tales of Symphonia) is coming out in Japan this week, and it'll be available in the U.S. in a few more months. Koi Cupid's also -supposed- to be out this weekend. However, according to the [ Borders ] website, the NEW release date is July 18th. I have been told that Broccoli Books is slow, and their dates are not very reliable, although this is rather sad for all the fans of Ikumi's work. On the other hand, there was an eBAY listing for the book, however, the shop does not say the book is in stock, so my guess is it's a preorder. I'll be sure to let everyone know when I'm certain it's available.
June 12, 2008Added a new page featuring [ references and parodies of Mew Mew ] in other anime series. That's right. ^_^ If you've noticed any yourself, feel free to tell us about them. This page should not, however, be confused with character lookalikes. And I finally made an icon of Pudding. How's that? Thanks to everyone who has filled out site surveys so far. If you haven't yet, I'm still accepting them, so please help out by taking a moment of your time and [ answering the survey ]. Thank you~
June 08, 2008It's that time again! The [ website survey ] has returned. Please fill it out and let us know what you think of the website. Thanks. Minor updates to staff, merchandise, and MYU-Cast sections. Scans should be available next week, and I hope to get around to some photographing as well. I'd like to share my room, but I need to finish straightening things up first. I also wanted to share this photograph of the Neko-Ichigo do-it-yourself paper bank. I have to make boxes at work, and I've folded furoku items together before, but this thing was just HARD! How do you do it? DX [ Neko-Ichigo PWNS MY SOUL! ]
June 05, 2008According to Amazon.com, Koi Cupid's release date has been pushed back YET AGAIN, this time to June 28, 2008. Hope to update this weekend, but since I'm having a yardsale and am working again stuffing mail doggone it, my updating plans have kind of been shoved back down the list. Still have some items up for [ auction ], though. Well, I'll message you guys this weekend - hopefully with some new scans and information.
June 01, 2008Hika Yagami's Mew Mew parody series "Tokyo Mew Mew in a Nutshell" now has [ its own website ]. Please check it out because Zordon commands you! >=O.
May 29, 2008Added pages for the [ Mew Aqua ] and the [ Aliens ] in general. The setting data scans will be released in parts because there are so many of them, and they don't scan very well. They will also be released with several charts, one of which I have discovered is a chart of how the characters address one another and themselves (which honorifics they use, if any, last name or first name). This has been added in a translated form with a page about [ Japanese honorifics ]. On that note, we have a new member to the translations team, Starberry115. Thanks for the questions you all have posted for the next MYU-Cast episode, which should be in the works soon. Also have volume 06 of the manga in Japanese and four promotional TCG cards up for [ auction ].
May 25, 2008Broccoli International revealed at FanimeCon 2008 that the English version of Koi Cupid, Mia Ikumi's newest manga series, should be available on bookshelves in about two weeks. Trading Game Card collection information updated and links added to the YouTube MYU-Cast playlist.
May 23, 2008Yeah, so, being sick was pretty crappy. It ended up being a virus. But I am better now. Thanks so much to everyone who has been bidding on my auctions, I really appreciate it, and it's nice to clear out a few things. I may have some more Mew Mew related auctions in the future, but for now I'm just trying to clear out other unwanted anime items. Because, frankly, I like my Mew Mew stuff unless I have multiples of it. XD And that's limited to cards right now. Anyway, um, people keep asking me so I went ahead and posted links to the [ MYU-Cast ], and I'm devising the best way to do it next time. I'm thinking Userplane or something might work better [for Hika].
May 15, 2008 Hey guys, sorry for the slight lag in updates. I had an interview today and last night we decided to hunt down the source of the noises I heard above me at night. Turns out a colony of bats (at least six of them) are living on my house outside of my room and were making the noise. On top of that, I think I'm getting sick, so I don't feel very well. Got the beginnings of the [ Chimera archive ] online. If nothing else there are little pictures of all the Chimera Anima in the series. I started the [ Manga vs Anime ] section listed below, and in a few weeks I hope to get the setting data that I won. I'm pretty excited about that. Sorry this is so short-lived, but I feel really bad right now, so you all stay healthy in my place. Also, if you know of any active Mew Mew sites/communities, please drop me the link(s), as I'd like to check them out. Thanks.

More updates. See, being out of school really makes the difference, doesn't it? I'm reworking the manga page and planning to expand the anime episode guide (and also include detailed information for Mew Mew Power - I just need to sit down and watch it again). The manga page now includes chapter numbers for each volume that correspond to the chapters listed on the Nakayoshi page. I'm going to redo the summaries to be spoiler-free. But while I was looking over the manga, I decided to make a more detailed section of differences between the anime and manga and where certain parts of the manga can be found in the anime, since a lot of people ask me "which episode does such-and-such happen in?". Part of the new anime guide will include a section called "Hits and Near Kisses" where it lists battles, main plot points, and those episodes with nods at this pairing or that, since most of the questions I get about the anime are along the lines of "In what episode did Lettuce kiss Ryou?" or "What's the episode where the aliens kidnap Ichigo?" and the like.

May 09, 2008Wow, I appologize for the lyrics. They really need some cleaning up, since most of the kanji are wrong, and I haven't had the time to check all of them yet. That's why they're beta versions, I guess. For some stuff that can't be screwed up by my lack of knowledge in the Japanese language, I've added more [ music ] including the English Mew Mew Power tracks which I purchased and converted to .mp3 myself. I also added some more Japanese music that I had traded for and a remix of the Italian Mew Mew Amiche Vincenti opening. I also have a BUNCH of songs by the Japanese voice actors in my mediafire folders. If you guys would like to take a look at them and keep the links active, I have assorted them by character/actor. I have some more to add, but I have to find them first. The [ seiyuu music folder can be found here ]. I also finally decided to [ auction off my Strawberry Bell weapon ], because I don't think I will ever be getting batteries for it or using it for cosplay, so if you're interested in finding one, feel free to take a look. It's still got all the accessories and inserts.
May. 06, 2008Hello everyone. I come to you from a brand spanking new laptop. ^-^ I'm happy to say I've finally graduated and will hopefully have more time on my hands now that I don't have any exams or essays to worry about. As promised, I have an update for you guys which includes more song [ lyrics ] and some [ music/track ] downloads from the Ringo Character CD and the Playstation Game CD. The albums have also been reuploaded. If anyone knows a good deal of Japanese and would be willing to help translate, I'd really appreciate it, as there are a few things I would like to be able to post in English, like some of the notes from Nakayoshi and the rules for the trading card game. In addition I have updated the staff page to include the new forum moderators - Hika Yagami and Mew Pocky who have helped me out a lot in the past. Thank you. MP.net is also now hosting Purple Hair Alien, a Pie shrine owned and run by Mew Pocky. The new link is [ here ]. More updates and overhauls to come. As a final side note, I decided to auction off some of my old Mew Mew art on eBAY. I'm pretty happy with the turnout so far. There's only a day left, but just in case someone was interested, I felt I should post the [ auction page ]. I might be auctioning a few more things off in the future - I'm not sure. I'm also going to photograph my collection once I finish straightening and rearranging my room.
Apr. 06, 2008According to [ Broccoli's ] website, the English release for Koi Cupid volume one has been pushed back to some time in May 2008.
Apr. 01, 2008I have a confession to make. As notorious as my April Fool's Day jokes are to visitors who have been with me for a while, I DID NOT pull any pranks on you guys this year. You fooled yourselves by thinking that I would/did. e-e;
Mar. 17, 2008Added [ scans ] from the 2002 manga calendar. Actually, they're not scans so much as photographs because the calendar is too large for my scanner. I will scan the inserts and a file that I also received with it when I find the time. All in all, the calendar is a bit flimsy. The paper is thin, but the printing job was done very well. Whoever owned it before me took good care of it. Important dates are listed, along with the girls' birthdays. No birthdays are listed for the boys or the aliens. Maybe that means they're robots? Meh. Anyway, I'm back from Florida. It was really nice down there and there were a LOT of animals and plants to look at. O_o; I could step into the garden and find ten lizards at any given moment. I also got to see manatees in real life for the first time. I was surprised by how large they are! Really, they are larger than some of the dolphins I saw. It really is a shame that these animals are endangered. =/
Mar. 05, 2008Pluggage time! Mew Lemon has started a Mew Mew art request site where you can order art of your very own Mew Mew. The staff's really talented, so check out [ Cafe Mew Mew, Are You Being Served? ] As for things around here, I probably won't have anything big for you guys until maybe Friday evening or Saturday. And after that I'll be on my vacation. I will have my laptop on hand, however, so I might have some goodies for when I return. Ah yes, and I also tweaked the [ MYU-Cast ] page to include some other people who expressed interest. Is it just me or do we miraculously have a fan of every male in the series except for Tasuku? Looks like it to me. ^^; That's actually nice because it makes things even. There were some other folks interested in this too, which I did not list yet. I think I said it before, if you want to be in an episode of the MYU-Cast, I really need to have an opportunity to speak with you before I add you to the list. The people on there now are all people I've dealt with and voice-chatted with before. But what we'd really like are some questions so we'll have stuff to talk about in the episodes. I did a preview/promo/boredom clip on my youtube account which explains things. [ It can be found here. ] (And if you want me to add something to your blurb, let me know! I didn't really know what to put.) Some of us might be getting together on Friday or Saturday if things work out, but I'm really not sure yet, since I'll be preparing for my trip.
Mar. 03, 2008New [ scans ] added from the 8/2001 issue of Nakayoshi. The page about the [ magazine ] has been updated accordingly.

Been doing some minor work behind the scenes and organizing some of the pages a little better, so there will probably be some minor changes around the site this week. Of note, I put the c-box back on the splash page and added summaries and thumbnails of the two [ doujinshi ] I purchased recently. I'm hoping I'll be able to post another (IMO, "special") scan update before the end of the week, but it really all depends on the postal system and if things went right with my order. I'll be gone next week, which is my spring break, because I'm going to be going to Florida. I am really excited about this, since it'll be my first time down there and also my first plane ride. ^_^ I will most likely bring back some information about marine life down there to add to the conservation section of the site which I'd really like to expand. Like, I plan to go to SeaWorld while there, and we might be visiting the Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge. Honestly, my roommate this weekend told me I was the "greenest" person she knows, so that's probably saying something. ^^; I can't help it if I care about the environment. And that's why the icon today is Aoyama-kun.

Feb. 23, 200874 New [ Scans ]. I'll try to photograph some merchandise later on, since some of it is too big or just can't be scanned. Also, it seems the Grey Wolf is going to be removed from the endangered species list. I'm currently enrolled in conservation biology, and my classmates came across [ this article ].
Feb. 09, 2008I'm in the process of straightening out things for the MYU-Cast (Mew Mew Podcast) which hopefully me and some other folks will be able to record an episode for this weekend, even though I'm sick with the flu and sound awful. I have made [ a page for it ]. If you have any questions or topics you would like us to talk about, please [ send them to me ]. Just put something about the podcast in the subject so I know what it's for. If you're interested in joining in, you can let me know too.
Jan. 26, 2008Two more [ cards ] have been added, as well as [ scans ] from the Ringo character CD. Some of us are starting to work on a simple game walkthrough/translation for the PS game. Also, please check out Hika Yagami's wonderful comparison [ video ] of the Japanese TV openings and endings and their differences. Thank you for posting it.
Jan. 23, 2008Some more [ trivia ] has been added, although a lot of my notes don't make very much sense to me anymore. @-@;; Thus, I might go back through the anime again to try to determine what they meant. I have been wanting to do a MewCast for some time now (a Mew Mew themed podcast), however I would need some other people willing to discuss the series and related things over [preferably] Skype. I'm not too sure what could be covered, really, although discussing specific episodes, characters, voice actors, pairings, and rumors might be a good place to start. If you have an questions, suggestions for the cast, or if you're interested in speaking in one of the episodes, just drop me an email. I should have more scans up later this week or early next week.
Jan. 22, 2008In the next couple of weeks I plan to auction off a number of my Mew Mew items on eBAY. If you are at all interested, please let me know. Among these [ items ] are two clear files, my Strawberry Bell toy, and the Ringo Character CD. I have some other items I'd also be willing to part with, but they're not really big enough to make a listing for. These include some manga titles in nearly perfect condition (they've only been read once or twice each), two Mew Mew button pin badges, and some cards.
Jan. 12, 2008New [ scans ] of the remaining SP Bromide cards, three more Nakayoshi issues, and some furoku items added. Updated the furoku list on the [ Nakayoshi ] page. This still does not include zen-in, since the actual dates those are released still seem a bit fuzzy to me.
Jan. 10, 2008NOTICE: After much misery on my part, I have decided that we will not be hosting fanart on this site. At least not for the time being. Art theft and art color-overs are spreading like wildfire in the online Mew Mew community from what I can tell. Words can not express the anger and frustration I feel every time I find a picture I drew of Ryou and Ichigo turned into Ryou and *insert_fan_mew* or when someone has stamped their name on a piece of art that took me four or more hours to complete. It's awful, and I'd hate seeing it done to anyone else's stuff. Not only is it defacing and stealing art, but on color-overs - I create pairing art with great enthusiasm. I LOVE my favorite couple to death. Seeing it changed into someone else with the guy is like a huge slap in the face. So... since I can't guarantee the safety of any art posted here, I'd rather stay safe and not post it, as much as I (as an art major) love art. I'm really sorry. =/ Thanks to everyone who has submitted their talent in the past. It has been very much enjoyed and appreciated.
Jan. 07, 2008Added new sections for merchandise reviews and editorials as well as a new section that's in progress featuring [ trivia ] about the series. Additionally, I wrote up a [ review ] for the very lovely Mew Ichigo Perfect Figure. If you'd like to join the review team, just send me an email. Also, Broccoli Books has added a [ page on Koi Cupid ] to their site.
Jan. 05, 2008Welcome to 2008, everyone. I'm currently working on another update, although I regret not having spent more time cleaning up around here during my break. The current banner was made and donated by Tally Solleni; thank you very much! Also, on the news front, Mia Ikumi's newest work, Koi Cupid (originally Koi Kyu) is being translated by [ Broccoli Books ] and will soon be made available in English. Thanks to AnimeKittyCafe for sharing this information.
Nov. 27, 2007Added [ scans ] from a Studio Hercules/Satoshi Ishino Works book I ordered off eBAY. I may scan the rest of the book later, but for now I scanned only the doujinshi-style images and covers. I also posted an article about common cliches and things to avoid in fanfiction. (I'm still tweaking it a bit. =/ Sorry if it sounds rude.) With that said, if you have any fanfiction you would like to recommend, please send the links along so that we can read and share them with everyone else. If the story's exceptionally good, it might even be reviewed. [ READ MORE ]
Nov. 24, 2007As you can see, the site's due for a new, more inviting, layout for the holidays. This might take a little while, as I've been very busy and generally unmotivated in lots of areas. Please cheer me on! However, I did finish up an article for the "Parent's Guide" section of the site about doujinshi, which I really feel should be read by anyone even slightly considering purchasing one. [ READ MORE ]
